Description

PSG2YM is a small utility that converts PSG files created by the fMSX Emulator to uncompressed YM files in YM3 or YM5 format. YM files can be played with the ST-Sound Player.

The PSG format is simply a recording of the sound chip registers synchronized to vertical blank interrupts.

The YM3 format is more or less the same thing, but with another format. The YM5 format adds more entries in the header, like Title, Author, Loop Point, Chip Frequency etc. If you're interested in the specification of the format, download the ST-Sound Player.

ST-Sound Player is an emulator of the YM2149 / AY-3-8910 sound chip used in MSX, Atari ST, Amstrad and Spectrum computers. The chip was also used in many arcade machines.
